Ration Day

Ration Day is the day we gather the Friends-In-Need (FINs) in Church and hand out some daily necessities and cash to them. Daily necessities would include things like rice, oil, soap, canned food, etc.

Besides giving the tangible items, we also help the family with cash aids. If the family has school going children, additional cash aid is given to help the family out.

Ration Day normally happens at the last Saturday of the month. Vincentions gather before the start of the ration giving to pack the items for the FINs.

Some of you may be wondering why we do no just give cash or coupons to the FINs as it is easier for them to dispense and buy what they need. They also need not lug the items back.

In this Conference, we like to maintain some traditions and spirit of our founders who were actually cooking for the poor they met on the streets - not so much of giving cash. In short, they were actually practising Christian charity towards the poor. We treasure the effort as a sacrificial act of love. For FINs who are not mobile, we deliver the ration and cash to them.

Ration Day starts off with a prayer. Snacks are normally served. Vincentians also take this time to catch up with the FINs.

Outing to Singapore Flyer & Dinner

On 16th Jul 2011, the Conference of the Risen Christ brought some of their FINs to the Singapore Flyer.

It was a "first time" experience for many FINs to see Singapore from such an altitude.

In the journey, Vincentians also get to know more about the FINs they spoke with.

After the visit to the Flyer, the FINs were treated to a Malay dinner and some live music.

Each FIN was also given $10.00 to spend on their own.
